My work is rooted in real stories, lived experience, and a deep belief in our shared humanity.

I’m Mina Mah, a writer, speaker, and former freedom fighter who has lived through war, exile, resettlement, and reinvention.

I grew up in a Kurdish mountain village in Iran, joined the resistance as a teenager, and eventually rebuilt my life in the UK.

Along the way, I discovered the power of storytelling, not just to survive, but to heal, teach, and connect.

Now, I use my voice and my experience to support others, through talks, workshops, and consultation.

Whether I’m in a school classroom, a university lecture hall, a literary festival, or an international conference, I speak from the heart and from the ground I’ve walked.

If you're looking for a voice that brings honesty, nuance, and compassion to conversations around migration, identity, integration, trauma, or justice, I’d love to work with you.

The following is what I offer.

Workshops (Online & In-Person)

I design and lead workshops that are both creative and reflective, tailored to meet the needs of the group in front of me.

My sessions are ideal for schools, community groups, writers, social services, and anyone looking to explore difficult topics with care and imagination.

Themes I often explore include:

- The lived refugee experience (beyond statistics and headlines)

- Integration, identity, and belonging

- Storytelling as a form of resilience and resistance

- Women’s rights, cultural pressures, and courage

- Writing as a tool for healing and social change

Each session is interactive and thought-provoking.

I often weave in stories from my own life, from smuggling books as a girl, to crossing borders as a mother, to rebuilding through language and literature.

I don’t teach theory, I share what I’ve lived, and invite others to do the same.

Talks & Keynotes (Online & In-Person)

Whether I’m giving a keynote at a conference, speaking to a school assembly, or joining a panel discussion, I bring my full self to every event.

These are some of the topics I’m often invited to speak about:

- Life as a refugee, through a personal lens

- Resilience, survival, and rebuilding identity

- The power of storytelling to change hearts and minds

- Human rights, migration policy, and what we get wrong

- Being a mother, a writer, and a former political activist

I’ve spoken at schools, universities, writers' festivals, women’s events, and community gatherings.

I speak with humour, compassion, and a deep sense of purpose.

I don’t speak about issues, I speak from them.

Consultation & Collaboration

I also offer bespoke consultation for:

- Creative teams, artists, and publishers

- Educators and school staff

- NGOs, charities, and cultural institutions

- Businesses or associations working on diversity, equity, and inclusion

I offer practical insight into ethical storytelling, refugee representation, and how to engage meaningfully with communities affected by migration, conflict, or trauma.

If you’re working on a project where lived experience matters, and it often does, I can help shape it with care and integrity.

Why Work With Me?

Because I’ve lived what I write about.

I’ve crossed borders with a child in my arms, worked in war zones, slept in refugee camps, and stood on stages in classrooms and conferences telling those stories.

I bring empathy, honesty, and lived insight to every room I enter.

If you’re organising an event, creating a campaign, writing a story, designing a curriculum, or simply trying to build a more compassionate community.

I can help you ground it in something real.
